Requirements & House Rules

Please read the following requirements and rules carefully. Adherence is essential for creating a safe and supportive recovery environment for everyone at EASL.

Admission Requirements

  • Rent is $160 a week. Must have upon arrival.
  • Male and female beds available.
  • Must have employment or SSI.
  • Those that work must attend 3 AA/NA meetings per week.
  • Those who do not work must attend 5 AA/NA meetings per week.
  • 1 mandatory house meeting on Wednesday at 2 PM, followed by 1 group meeting with our social worker at 3 PM.
  • A drug test will be administered on arrival.
  • All residents must read and agree to follow all EASL house rules.

Resident Rules Policy

The EASL House Rules and Program Description help residents understand the expectations and benefits of the program. Upon admission, each resident will receive a copy and review it with the house manager.

Upon admission, each resident will receive a copy of the EASL House Rules and Program Description. At the time of admission, the admitting house manager/owner will review the EASL Rules and Program Description with the resident and the resident will sign a copy of the Rules that will indicate the review.

Sober Living Rules

This document lays out the rules of Eastern Avenue Sober Living. Your first assignment after admission is to read this over with the House Manager and sign that you agree to follow them—designed to give you the best shot at success and long-term sobriety.

  1. 90-Day Commitment: We request that a resident commit to a 90-day stay.
  2. Sponsor/Mentor: Within two weeks of arrival you must obtain a sponsor/mentor and start working a program.
  3. Work Requirement: Staff are available 24/7. Residents must work a minimum of 32 hours per week; schedules must comply with program requirements.
  4. Mandatory Weekly Services: Includes 1 hour of group once per week, optional targeted case management, and individual peer support.
  5. Searches & Screening: Residents and rooms are subject to searches and substance screening by staff at any time.
  6. Curfew: 10 PM Sunday–Thursday, 12 AM Friday & Saturday (Unless you have prior staff approval for late work).
  7. No Gambling/Money Lending: NO gambling, bartering, or lending of money.
  8. Zero Tolerance - Confrontation: Zero tolerance for physical or verbal confrontation with any staff person or resident.
  9. Zero Tolerance - Sexual Conduct: Zero tolerance for sexual comments, innuendos, gestures, or public displays of affection.
  10. Zero Tolerance - Violence: Zero tolerance for horseplay, physical aggression, or violence.
  11. Bedroom Access: NO females in men’s bedrooms, and NO males in women’s bedrooms—except staff.
  12. No Room-Hopping: Residents are NOT permitted in another resident’s room if they do not live there.
  13. Community Accountability: If you know someone has violated any EASL rule, report it to staff immediately.
  14. Guest Curfew: NO guests allowed on the property past 8 PM. Any workers, volunteers, or community partners must be pre-approved by staff.
  15. Immediate Ejection for Intoxication: Any visitor suspected of drug or alcohol use will be sent away and banned if they breach the rules.
  16. Meeting Attendance: Working residents: 3 AA/NA meetings per week. Non-working residents: 5 AA/NA meetings per week. Verification sheets due at the weekly house meeting.
  17. Mandatory In-House Meetings: Residents must attend all mandatory meetings and sleep at the house each night unless pre-approved by staff.
  18. Security & Lighting: Residents with unusual job hours must have staff approval. Doors locked at all times; porch lights on at night.
  19. Chores: Assigned chores must be completed by 11 AM prior to walk-throughs.
  20. Laundry: Must be done on your assigned day, and out of the dryer by 8 PM.
  21. Common-Area Sweep: On laundry day, sweep the common room and back porch. Resident rooms must stay clean.
  22. Bed-Making: Beds are to be made whenever residents are out of them.
  23. Deep Cleaning: To be done weekly.
  24. Zero Tolerance - Substances: Zero tolerance for alcohol, illicit drugs, or prescription-med abuse.
  25. Medication Storage & Logs: All meds locked in assigned lockers, dispensed per instructions. Medication logs maintained; meds counted by staff at any time.
  26. MAT Medication: Residents on MAT must bring meds to the house manager; dispensed daily.
  27. Tobacco Use: Tobacco products only in designated areas. No smoking, vaping, or dip inside apartments.
  28. No Weapons: NO firearms or weapons of any kind on premises. All personal belongings searched on arrival and returned within 72 hours.
  29. Mail Pickup: The house manager ONLY picks up mail and distributes it.
  30. Outdoor Conduct: Residents must be good neighbors—no abusive or foul language outdoors.
  31. Noise Ordinances: Keep noise at a respectable level; observe quiet hours 10 PM–6 AM.
  32. Yard Maintenance: Cut, edge, and blow the yard on a rotating schedule. Earn a $15 rent credit for the week you do it.
  33. Vehicle Repairs: No vehicle repairs on property except tire or battery changes.
  34. Visitation Approval: Visits must be approved 24 hours in advance and meet program requirements. (Felon-to-felon visits require special approval.)
  35. Overnight Passes: After 30 days, you may have up to 2 nights/week off-site—must have sponsor and program participation.
  36. Discharge Items: Personal items left behind at discharge held for 3 days, then discarded or donated if unclaimed.
Violation Policy: If you’re caught breaking any of these rules, you’ll get a written incident report, a corrective action plan, and we’ll discuss it at the next weekly house meeting.
